Post 3

This week I have been talking to the founder of the camp. She responded with full support for my project and was so excited that I would chose this camp to send my proceeds to. She mentioned that with a walk she has connections that would provide all supplies needed for the walk to be successful. This includes water and such. The water would be donated by Trader Joes. Also, she suggested making t-shirts for the walk. However, I do not know all of the details of what she can provide to my project yet. We are trying to meet up however, it may have to be after the first of the year because the holidays are approaching and those get very busy.
The founder of Kids on the Go is also going to be my mentor. I asked her this week and she was very excited. She seems to have many ideas to contribute towards my project. After we meet my project will get in motion. As of right now I will be thinking of more ideas to raise money and try to further the idea of putting some sort of container at registers of local businesses. As I have been in communication with people, I am becoming more passionate about my project and I have more faith that this project will be a success.

I recently contacted the Kids on the Go founder and asked if she could work with me and if she was okay with me hosting an event. However, I am waiting for a response. I have decided against my plan of holding a fashion show due to input costs and because I would have to host guests which would be too much money compared to the possible outcome. It would not help me raise enough money for the cause but, I think the walk would be a better option. The walk I do not have to entertain guests and it is more free range so, I think it would attract more people.
Along with the walk, I think it would be very beneficial to hold separate charitable actions on the side. This week I have been researching other ways to raise money and I think it would be a good idea, aside from the walk, to put some sort of container at registers, in businesses around town, so that when people get change they can just put it in there and that would add up over time. Even though that probably would not make a large amount of money, every little bit helps! The overall goal of this project is to raise as much money as possible in order for this camp to enroll more children. It is truly a wonderful organization and is so beneficial for these children!

October 10, 2014, My First Post

For my 20 time project I would like to hold an event in order to raise money for a camp called Kids on the Go. Kids on the Go is a camp designed for kids with special needs. The families have to apply to get into this camp but there is no tuition for the children because it is all based on sponsors. This camp gives children the extra help they need during the summer to help them reach their full potential. The camp is one on one therapists for each participant so it is so beneficial for the children. The reason I want to hold an event to raise money for this camp is because my little brother has Down Syndrome. My little brother, Nickolas, has gone to this camp and it provided him with the consistency throughout the year that kids with special needs need in order for them not to lose the skills they worked so hard to get. Also, this camp is so wonderful because of the lack of services there are during summers for children with special needs. For the event I am considering holding a walk or holding a fashion show. People can donate money in both along with the prices of the tickets that would get donated. If I was to do the fashion show I would have the children with special needs walk in it. However, I am still undecided because I need to pick the one that would make the most money so that the camp can enroll more children.
